Some crazy woman apparently sucked as a babysitter, as in wasn't available when needed and somesuch, and turned up on the previous employer's doorstep with a couple of Hell's Angels in tow, looking to get paid 2 months worth. For uh. Not working.

Possible H5N1 outbreak.. Where..?

15 ducks are found dead. This is apparently "odd", even though it's currently TERROR cold over here, there's no food, everything is iced over. A polar bear wouldn't survive with no food. Personally, i doubt there's avian flu about, but if an outbreak DID occur here, i'm pretty sure its epicentre would be somewhere near Stavanger. Probably dead center, like a bullseye. BAM.

Possible gang rape in Stavanger

Apparently a 20 year old girl has been raped "possibly by several men" in Stavanger. I'll update this post as more details arrive, it's very early in the investigation.

Stavanger robbers can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar

Apparently a couple of masked robbers armed with a "gun-like" object managed to rob a confectionary. That sounds pretty hard core to me. Real badass.

17 year old kidnaps and rapes 16 year old in Sandnes

Bullet points:

• 17 year old calls his 16 year old ex, wanting to talk about their relationship
• He talks her into going with him for a drive
  
• During this drive, she wants to go home, and he refuses her this unless she'll become his girlfriend again (romance!)
• After this he just keeps driving aimlessly, refusing to let her go.
• At several points during the trip he threatens her with a knife and tells her he's willing to kill them both if she won't do as he says
• At one point he rapes her
• Eventually, through a whole bunch of convoluted events, her parents somehow intercepts them and she is released and the guy is arrested.

19 year old stuffs himself with x number of wack substances and goes for a drive

Some 19 year old guy in Stavanger apparently gorged himself on several drugs, among others meth, marijuana and mdma. Then he went for a drive in the middle of town. Rock on!

Adults throw shows to get at the kiddies

• A number of cases have been confirmed where grown men invite young girls to their homes, where they are offered alcohol and somesuch.
• "We have spoken to youth describing that these men demand sexual favors as payment"
• In one case a man went as far as to hire DJs, doormen and run a veritable club out of his house, with over 100 kids in attendance.

Stavanger prostitution rampant

Bullet points:

• Over 500 separate phone numbers in the Stavanger area are used by escort and massage services. By massage i mean the bad kind of massage.
• Street prostitution was already known to be an extensive problem in Stavanger, with over 100 active prostitutes. This is a large number for such a small place, and it's not a complete count. Estimates are double that in the grey.
• In-door prostitution, ie. organized, "clean" prostitution, is apparently even larger a business than street prostitution.

Microwaved kitten in Sandnes

No english news story here. Bullet points follow:

• Two men aged 18 and 19 put 2 cats in a microwave oven
• One of the cats, a kitten, died from the injuries
• They actually kept the kitten that died in that oven "for hours", which is pretty fucking callous.
  
• Not their cat. This happened at a party, and the dead cat was the host's.
• The second cat was the neighbors, and they beckoned it in before doing the same to it. Note that this was AFTER THE FIRST CAT WAS DEAD.
• The second time they turned on the grill functionality of the oven, putting fire to the cat's fur.

So you get these assholes not only murdering a kitten in a totally fucked up way, but actually going out to get another cat, and try to do WORSE to that one.

This is a great story. When even paraplegics turn to crime, there's some serious dark energy around. Or maybe just boredom.

"A suspected shoplifter who led store employees on a wild chase in her motorized wheelchair has turned herself in to police in western Norway. They later raided her home and seized illegal distilling gear and moonshine"

Cows rampage in Norway

A beautiful case of nature going bonkers in the west. I read another news story about a year ago about vast flocks of crows invading Stavanger forests, and getting down with the shi'in so hard core that joggers and other folks going through the forests simply had to stop doing so. I guess that wasnt seen as significant enough to be archived. Hard to find.

The Sandnes teen jealousy murder

I've been told this could've happened "anywhere". My point is it happened in Rogaland.
Kids gunning eachother down over small talk is not a common norwegian problem; that it occurred at all, and that when it did it occurred in Sandnes, that is what draws my attention.

The vortex

Rogaland is a region of southern Norway known for its beautiful landscapes. The largest city in the region is Stavanger, a city known for its beauty. In the 60s and 70s Stavanger was known to other norwegians as the most "european" city in Norway, with a large segment of the populating being american or british as a result of the evolved oil industry and its presence in the city.

Since then, numerous events have alerted me. Starting with my friend's girlfriend (who turned out to be a raving lunatic), my interest in the darker side to the region has grown. The past few years, bizarre events of horrific nature have transpired there, for the most part in the region's younger population. From child prostitution through rampant drug abuse, animal mutilation and ultimately murder, Rogaland crime is younger, darker and disturbingly callous, and worthy of special interest. It is also noteworthy that Stavanger is notorious biker gang Hell's Angels' norwegian stronghold.

Most recently, a 17 year old boy guns down and murders his 16 year old girlfriend with his father's handgun. Prior to this, one of the most brutal and dramatic robberies in norwegian history took place there, culminating in the death of a police officer (a rare event in gun-unfriendly Norway).

The scale and sadness, and in some cases the WEIRDNESS of Rogaland crime boggles the mind of me, the Norwegian, and with this blog i will attempt to share my interest and hopefully build a pattern over time. I will post headlines from Norwegian news media, as well as links to articles or translations of articles of interest.

There is more to this beautiful part of Norway than meets the eye.
